D3.1 - Conceptual design of the TPER single cell - Executive Summary
The objective of this deliverable is to provide a schematic overview and description of an integrated electrochemical cell (at TRL 3 scale, 100 cm2), with special emphasis in the restrictions for each component in terms of process operative conditions (temperature, pressure, solvents, pH, etc). A general introduction is provided to highlight the advantages of moving from a traditional electrochemical cell (H-type cell) to a continuous-flow configuration. Then, the specifications for the integration of the TPER cell components (photoelectrodes, membranes and CO2 capture & concentration step) received from WP1, WP2 and WP4 are reported. Subsequently, the conceptual design of the basic unit of the final TPER prototype and a proposal for a first testing at lab scale (at POLITO) in a flow-cell (~10 cm2) are given. Finally, general conclusions are drawn regarding the next steps of development that will be followed in the SUNCOCHEM project based on the provided updates and proposals.
