D2.4 - Synthesis of the selected transparent bipolar membrane - Executive Summary
This report deals with the selected transparent bipolar membrane to be developed, tested and further optimized for the final application in the tandem photoelectrocatalytic reactor. The results provided are based on the experimental techniques of preparation and characterization already presented in Deliverable 2.2, where materials and architecture of the bipolar membrane were defined.
The objective of this report is the study of the appropriate thickness of the TBM and of its components to keep high ion conductivity and transparency combined with high mechanical and dimensional properties. With this aim, morphological characterization, ion conductivity measurements, UV-vis spectra, mechanical stress-strain curves and electrochemical tests were performed on a range of membranes. The second generation of TBM to be implemented within the project is therefore described.
