In this document, the CO2 separation chains through contactor membranes and polymerized ionic liquid membrane is designed and key features of transparent bipolar membranes are discussed. Feed gas composition based on DOW emission report is considered to define the appropriate properties of the membranes. Membrane contactors and polymerized ionic liquid (PIL) membranes are briefly discussed for CO2 separation, as well as the effect of supporting ionic liquid on the membranes on the separation performances. State-of-art research and considerations based on literature are reported for contactor membrane, PIL (polymerized ionic liquid) membrane for CO2 absorption and separation and TBM (Transparent bipolar membrane) for photoeletrochemical reaction.
