Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia is an international research center based in Italy. IIT scientific activities are multidisciplinary and with a very strong attitude towards technology transfer.
The Centre for Sustainable Future Technologies has embraced sustainability in its mission statement and is engaged in the global scientific and technological endeavors to address the sustainability challenges, primarily the reduction of anthropogenic CO2 footprint and improved efficiency in the usage of alternative energy and feedstocks. To deliver sustainability-compliant technologies the Centre fosters alternate routes, which include the development of advanced materials for carbon capture and storage along with in-depth characterization of their properties at the structural, chemical, electrical, electrochemical, and mechanical levels. The equally appealing approach pursued by the Centre is based on the development of best-practice biology-based process technologies for carbon transformation into valuable specialty or everyday products. Based on diversified expertise, the two approaches create complementary and converging solutions to meet the demands for sustainability.
Contribution to SunCoChem
With a consolidated experience in materials characterization, and with sustainability and CO2 capture and valorization as research topics of the Center, we contribute to the project with our experience in ionic liquids for the CO2 capture. We also contribute with our in-situ/in-operando characterization techniques for the structural and morphological characterizations of the anodic and cathodic catalysts.
