Presenting SunCoChem in the workshop on the future of solar fuels and chemicals organised by the SUNERGY initiative
The SunCoChem project has been presented during the workshop “Shaping the future: renewable fuels and chemicals from solar energy for a climate-neutral Europe”, organised by SUNERGY on June 14th – 15th in Brussels (Belgium).
The workshop has presented a programme with a great array of speakers to discuss with the principal stakeholders along the whole solar fuels value chain and presenting the latest innovations and scientific research done in this sector.
Simelys Hernández, SunCoChem technical coordinator and associate professor at Politecnico di Torino, has participated in the “Innovation Pitch session” held during the event’s second day focused on “Finding the sweet spot: early scope of exploitation of solar conversion technologies”.
The presentation offered a general overview about the project, as a key sustainable chemistry project developing a reactor to manufacture chemicals using renewable energies drawing on carbon dioxide (CO2) recovered from the chemical industry and solar energy. During the presentation delivered, Simelys Hernández also mentioned some of the main developments achieved within the project, as well as the results obtained in the first 2 years and the expected impacts.
During her intervention, Simelys Hernández has taken the opportunity to present the Road2GreenChem European cluster to all the community of SUNER-C, a project created under the SUNERGY initiative, developing a strategic roadmap towards the board implementation of solar fuels and chemicals.
The session also included the presentation of A-LEAF, SoFIA, IMPOWER2X and FuturoLEAF, four European-funded projects working on topics related to renewable energies and solar energy.
SUNERGY is a European Research and Innovation initiative working towards the conversion and storage of renewable energy into fossil-free fuels and chemicals.
